This work is about autistic masking in women. We tend to create different personas for ourselves, which is where the term “masking” comes from. The dress-up doll is an allegory for feeling like we cosplay as different people depending on our situation, as navigating this experience is rather new since there hasn’t been much research about autism in women up until recent times.
