For this piece I started by taking “traditional” black and white self-portrait photos followed by superimposing pieces of childhood photos and intertwining the two. This was meant to create a connection between past and present selves and to expand upon the idea that your inner child stays with you and affects how you view the world. I illustrated this by combining photos of eyes and arms and faces and placing photos together in a way that would make them interact.

What a fascinating project Combining childhood photos with your current self-portrait is a creative way to explore the connection between past and present. The idea that our inner child influences our perspective is profound.
The technique of superimposing and intertwining images adds a layer of depth to the piece. It’s almost as if the past and present are having a conversation.
