For my piece, I wanted to deal with my personal fears surrounding threats to women and the environment after the election. As a queer woman, the election hit me with a sense of dread that particularly comes out as fear for the loss of reproductive rights for women and AFAB people, and loss of civil rights for women, queer people, people of color, disabled people, and any other marginalized group. Intrinsically tied to that for me is fear that the environment will be irrevocably damaged in the coming years. For me, human bodies and nature are intertwined, and with damage to one is damage to the other. They’re always side by side, and risk to either is life or death.
