This collage is about the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. It features mourning Palestinians amidst the ruins of their homes and communities, with a path between rubble leading to a cloud of debris caused by the impact of a bomb. In the top left is the image of Netanyahu, with raw flesh radiating out of him. In the opposite corner is a medical illustration of a skinned human face, his victims. I didn’t want to force anyone to view real human gore, nor did I want to look that up and view it myself, though I did consider it, and I believe it would have been a good addition to this piece and the point its trying to make – raising awareness of the brutality occurring, especially as its backed by our taxes, and hopefully getting people to be less complacent.
I titled it “Modern Genocide” because I feel like we typically think of genocide as being in past tense. There’s also the genocide of Uyghur Muslims in recent years, and some very unfortunate things happening in the Congo (to say the least), which I haven’t researched as much.
