Technically, this is still a work in progress, as my life did not leave enough time for this to be completed before midnight (ironically fitting for its premise). I don’t pay much attention to the news. There’s too much happening, and there’s so much negativity, that to maintain any semblance of mental health, it’s better to just stay away. However, that doesn’t stop some of it from slipping through the gaps. So that’s what this is. Those fragments, pulled together into a broken mirror of the world.

Its base design (the broken mirror) stems from Arcane, Season 1. Its what gave me the idea for this in the first place. (The blank fragments are where I either didn’t have time to complete them, or couldn’t figure out what would be most fitting)

Spiraling from top right:
Blank fragment (WIP)
Space! – this represents all the events surrounding space exploration and NASA, including finding water on the surface of Pluto’s moon
Blank fragment (WIP)
Protests – self explanatory, there’s been a lot of these
Raven and Hummingbird (West Coast Native stylization) – double meaning; this is supposed to represent the Native Tribes in the US. They’re here, they’re doing good work, and they need more recognition for that. My choice of depicting both the Raven and the Hummingbird, who don’t necessarily share stories, is a personal one
Blank fragment (WIP)
Salmons’ Return – bit self explanatory; the salmon have returned to the rivers to spawn, including a local river
Rainbow – Alphabet Mafia community representation! I refuse to leave that out
Desert and fenced off sky – this one’s for immigrants and migrants. This country relies on them, and yet they are treated anywhere from: somewhat decent to downright cruel
Broken city (WIP) – this one’s for War.
Handprint (WIP) – not really sure what this was going to be, it’s kinda impromptu? The handprint may get painted red though. Take that how you will, I guess
Desert Lilies – occasionally, after enough rain, there is a location in Africa where hundreds of lilies will bloom. That happened again recently, the first time in three years
Ace flag – the group I fall under, gets repeatedly ignored or belittled, and I refuse to be completely quiet about it. We’re here, we exist, we’re human.
Trans flag – there’s so much happening with this group, and so many threats being piled on them. I have other personal reasons for adding this flag in
Orcas’ Return (WIP) – Orcas have returned to PENN Cove for the first time since the 1970s! There are quite a lot of reasons why this is important, but they’re too long for this.
