This piece is based on the September 24th execution of Marcellus Williams, a black man put on death row for a murder he didn’t commit. The title and having white as the perimeter around the man on the left in a praying stance (who is based off of Williams because of his involvement in Islamic culture) is meant to show how the judicial system (look at the character on the right holding a gavel) view people of color through biased lenses and determine consequences based off of such dehumanizing generalizations.
