When interacting with society in public, there are certain guidelines we are expected to follow in our daily lives; things we are to hide about ourselves, and things we are encouraged to promote. These “masks” we are expected to wear can be exhausting to maintain, and can warp our perceptions of self, especially in the realms of self-esteem and self-confidence. No matter how glamorous these masks may be, they inhibit our ability to connect with ourselves and others, encourage superficial judgement, and perpetuate a culture of conformity.
