I stand in the kitchen my father built with the national fish of Japan laid over it. Half and Half represents my identity with being “wasian”. I’ve always felt like I’m in a constant battle with which cultural identity really fits me; always feeling too white to be fully Asian, and too Asian to be fully white. In this strange cultural limbo, I find myself in an overwhelmingly white society with a culture I feel so detached from but am constantly trying to reconnect with.
