Ever since I cut my hair short and moved to Bellingham, I have been assumed to be non-binary. Countless people use they/them pronouns for me–not because they don’t want to assume my gender, but because they are assuming my lack of one. I identify as a woman, and I am frustrated with being constantly misgendered due to my androgynous appearance. This photo is myself staring at myself, displaying both ends of the stereotypical gender spectrum. I want to be called a woman in both situations, and in every situation in between.
