My cat, Mae, has always been the most comforting sound to me. Since she was a kitten, she has voiced every feeling she has ever had. Whether that be happiness, discomfort, playfulness or hunger, as heard in my audio clip of her feeding time. Now, after 9 years together, we live alone in my apartment. And the only time I find myself talking out loud is to her, and she always responds back. I chose to record her feeding time because it tends to be when she is most vocal. Every meow holds a space in my heart and I do not take those moments for granted when it feels like we can really understand each other.
