I took this photo at the farm where I work on a rainy day. I wanted to show the beautiful galaxy that presented itself to me in the form of this dying leaf. This leaf to me shows just how much beauty we miss in everyday life by looking at objects as we have always looked at them before. though this leaf is tiny and insignificant as some of us feel sometimes on this huge planet, it tells a story, and will eventually break down into nutrients so that the next growing thing can use some of its nutrients to thrive and eventually fall into the same cycle as the leaf before it. making a Tiny, but very significant difference. It also reminded me of when I was working in customer service as an 18 year old and a man came in and gave me a leaf. when I looked at him confused he said to me “because you will appreciate it” and I did. I still have that leaf in a little envelope to remind me of the kindness this stranger showed to me. This photo was inspired by Aaron Siskind’s Black and White photograph in which he shows a great deal of detail with the use of his camera. I decided to post this in color to show the varying displays of dots and contours of the leaf better.
