This is a Siskind-inspired black and white photograph of shirts on hangers. There is a blocking component to this piece, but rather than color, it is composed of texture. Because of the way the hangers draw back into the closet, you can see the through layers of texture, much as you can see layers of paint in color in Rothko’s works. While this work has a simple focus, it’s title plays with the concept of the tedium of everyday tasks and of how well they are managed. There is a slight tension to it as you can see some shirts remain perfectly tucked away while others are straining to come off.
