This is an inked plus digital painting of Brianna Ghey, a transgender girl, who was stabbed to death in the UK on the 11th of February, 2023. To begin with her death was not even considered a hate crime by the police, when in reality she was most likely attacked and murdered because she was trans. There is an excuse murderers of trans people use called the Trans Panic Defense, where they claim that they were so surprised that the victim they murdered was trans that they killed them. I wanted to bring to the light the injustice transgender victims of violence face, and how unwilling the world is to see that these crimes are increasing drastically.
