For this project, I decided to make a collage of music icons that died too soon due to the ongoing opioid crisis. I chose to include 7 prominent musicians that passed from overdosing on opiates and then a bottle of pills towards the top of the collage. The message behind this piece is that the opioid epidemic is severely affecting the world, especially musicians and other people that have money to fuel their addiction. I chose the title “End the Cycle” because that’s exactly what needs to happen. We need to hold pharmaceutical companies liable so this cycle of talented people and just people, in general, leaving us too soon can end.
