With this work, I wanted to juxtapose the perception of my body as a source of hedonism and consumerism with my belief that my body is also a sacred vessel gifted from the natural world. In these two panels, I tried to integrate these realities in a way that both works include both perceptions. The body in both panels is the central subject, and is fused with objects such as trash, empty and full vases, vines, flowers, outlets, cords, sale labels, and phones. These “hybrids” of my body reflect how I perceive my body as run by primal needs and urges (food, sex, technology addiction, consumerist urges etc.) while also being an incredibly complex, natural, and respectable vessel to fill with life experience.
