Australia has implemented their Cull Plan to limit shark attacks on their beaches. They leave nets off the coast of beaches and any shark that gets caught in it will be murdered and then dumped farther out at sea. The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has faced much scrutiny and backlash, calling this plan inhumane and unethical. Many are demanding that the unethical killing of sharks end. Since humans are not part of a shark’s natural diet, most sharks pose little threat to humans. Sharks, for all their terrifying reputation, seldom ever attack people; instead, they prefer to eat fish and marine mammals. Out of the more than 300 species of sharks, only a few dozen have attacked people.
