My Project Now piece is inspired by feminist messages in the roots of modern fashion trends. I created this crochet top in response to the trends of bows, ‘feminine colors’, cropped shirts, corsets, etc. I researched how fashion trends are reflected in society and specifically turned my attention to how female voices are empowered through today’s fashion trends. My goal with this piece was to call more attention to asking why trends are popular; where did they come from?
