This digitally altered picture contains two photos of me, one taken just a few days ago, the other taken in 2020. The pictures are oriented so it appears that both versions of me are looking at each other, and while the 2020 version of me looks distant and melancholy, the current version of me looks back in her direction with a smile. I was in a very dangerous mental state for a long time including when the 2020 photo was taken and that experience has molded the person I am today and is still such an integral part of my identity. Now, I am able to both be grateful that I no longer experience the pain my past self was in, while also being so proud of how hard she worked and how strong she was to get through it.
