This work is inspired off the political event of Trump being re-elected, and the Turkish proverb “The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them.” The image depicts an axe colored red centered among 3 trees and a field of stumps, the axe handle sprouts small and meager limbs compared to the limbs of the true trees and the axe is seated among the oldest stump having now grown dilapidated with mushrooms, to the left of this stump is a tree pushed to the side and marked for cutting with a red dotted line. I decided to make this work and include these elements within it to offer my opinion and understanding of how the 2024 presidential election went with the axe being the GOP, the red lined tree being Democrats and the forest being the United States, however this is also done with the added intent of offering the viewer a visual scape to introspect and ponder over so that they may be able to find their own meaning to the piece.
