This piece is a representation of coral reef bleaching, caused by climate change and ocean acidifiction. The hand represents mother nature attempting to nuture a dead coral. The ocean is the basis of all life and yet we are standing by and letting organisims within it die, despite the fact that humans are what caused this oceanic issue. The plastic ontop of this art piece symbolizes how humans will ignore significant issues unless it’s presented to them in a pleasing matter. Essentially, we have to convince others to care.
