I combined a city pop DJ set with simulated café sounds to evoke a sense of quiet isolation within the vastness of urban life. City pop reflects the excitement of modern urban life as the music is inspired by the sophisticated, urban musical atmosphere of American pop, rock, and jazz fusion. The ambient café noise also adds a layer of everyday realism. The non-authenticness (the DJ set being premixed and recorded, and the café sounds being made by a simulation) of the audio captures the feeling of being alone yet surrounded, a reflection on the contradictions of urban society.
