Creativity Cannot Be Computerized

This piece is meant to comment on the increasing threat Artificial Intelligence poses to the jobs of creatives and the meaning of creativity as a whole. AI is developing the ability to create art, literature, movie scripts, and more at an alarming rate, and creatives have begun to express fear over their job security. The collage is made of found materials and printed out pictures of AI-generated art, artists I drew inspiration from (Salvador DalĂ, Pablo Picasso, and especially Barbara Kruger), and Alan Turing, who created the Turing Test (considered the basis for artificial intelligence). Although AI hasn’t devastated creative fields yet, the time to worry is now, before it’s too late.

Bird Songs

I chose to create a soundscape of the beginning of my day. Every morning, I wake up to the songs of the birds in the arboretum, and then play some music to start my day in a good mood (the song in the audio is “Sun in My Morning” by Saint Etienne). The cover image is a picture of the view from my bedroom window :)

Identical Origins

For this piece, I chose to focus on my identity as an identical twin. I used a picture of my twin and I as newborns and overlayed outlines of each other onto ourselves. When I think about who I am, I find it important to acknowledge that I began at an identical place to another person, something not many people can say. In a way, this makes me feel unique, and while both my twin and I have diverged into two very distinct identities, we’ve certainly had a large impact on each other and who we have become.
