This self-portrait was done traditionally with ink and four posca markers and then edited for saturation and contrast.
The “hybridity” of the portrait comes from the meshing of stylizations and moods. The figure is relatively realistic and with no color at all, which contrasts with the bright saturated colors of the background and the cartoonish character in the bottom right.
There is a darker mood set by the skull of the face, creating further dissonance with the guileless character of the cartoon dog.
