Whispering Bird Chimes

As someone who grew up next to the water out in nowhere land, the early morning wake up calls from the birds was an everyday venture. identity in color silhouettes

As described in the lecture, I made this piece to embody the innovative mixing of a shaped identity I can relate to through the pandemic. In specific to identity I wanted to focus on emotional tolls that can affect one’s persona. My idea was to use a sense of color clocking to portray the change in emotional identity from the pandemic to now. During the pandemic, emotionally I was in a deeper, more melancholy-toned space that formulated an outward identity that didn’t feel true to myself. Since then shown by the split in the image, a more true figure has emerged that is clear to see with a color scheme that provokes a brighter theme. I used Bryon Kim’s work as a partial influence due to his use of monochromatic skin tones as his subject matter that in a sense formulated a mood and message through the blocking of color.
