Everyone always told me I had my grandmother’s eyes, that I resembled her entirely! Once she passed, I started losing the idea of myself or my identity. At the end of the day, we are all creatures, seeking others and surviving. My loved ones make up who I am and do not define me. I used a digital collage to represent parts of my identity today. I also used an old photo of my grandma with the eyes removed to separate myself from the portrayed identity.
This is the last piece of art I made that I am proud of. It just sits there, staring at me, with this look of “When was the last time you picked up a paintbrush?”
