Nice Day for a Cup of Coffee

WordPress won’t let me upload an audio file to a gallery post, so it can be accessed by this link.

My soundscape is comprised of the first thing I hear when I wake up, which is a mix of traffic and birds chirping, followed by an overwhelming recording of my three classes’ lecture material, and ending with the sound of my coffee machine. It’s a 60 second representation of what I pay to spend my time remembering. It’s an homage to the contrast between enjoying learning and the loss of life balance and energy that comes with higher education for many students. The album art is representative of a brain making numerous connections at once, sparking a campfire that represents burnout.

Summer Nights

The lullaby on a warm summer night comes from the frogs, whose song fills the air. My fondest memories are of my seven-year-old self-sitting on the back deck in my dad’s lap, looking at the stars and racing to spot the first satellite. Now that I’m older and in college, some things never change; my dad and I still share the same summer hobby of stargazing with the frogs singing in the background. Although our hobby remains, it has evolved. At college, I often open my door at night to let the cadence of the frog’s seep into my apartment, transporting me back to my dad and my beloved hometown.

Silence. Not pure silence, but the silence of nature; serenity. Close your eyes and you might just hear it too. I have known the silence of the trees and the grass for quite some time now. I took this opportunity… Continue Reading →

In Discussion
