Spanish 450 courses are designed to give an in-depth view of a literary topic in the Hispanic world. For this specific course, I decided to study Pedro Páramo from the Mexican author Juan Rulfo. Considered one of the most important novels from the XXth century Latin American literature Rulfo’s masterpiece was the perfect scenario to combine literary analysis with critical thinking. “Pedro Páramo de Juan Rulfo” was design to provide the students with enough tools to be able to talk about the novel itself, the Mexican Revolution’s context and the relationship between writing and oral traditions in Mesoamerica.
