It usually comes from references in what their kids are watching or a character going Super Saiyan (or a nod to Dragon Ball Z). Topics in this medium can be almost anything due to how the vast amount of film. Film is “written” by the producers, writers, actors and everyone else involved in the making of the show/movie. “Writters” are also the channels that play the shows or the theaters playing the movies. The “readers” are the viewers of the film. This genre is created for entertainment and information.
This content is mostly stories and sometimes incorporate facts. This medium does a good job of incorporating rhetorical appeals. They use characters backstories and abilities to establish and emotional connection appealing to pathos. In films we are often faced with problems where we see the villain’s point and we are connected to their logical reasoning. For example, when a villain wants to save the planet but in order for that to happen they must sacrifice innocent people. We almost always side with the heroes in the end due to their ethical appeal of, for example not killing innocent people. Also our pathos connection to our heroes make it hard for us to disagree with them as well.
The text in this medium is the script and subtitles if you choose to use them. The length of sentences range from short expressions to monologues. The diction in this genre is pretty normal to usual sentences but varies heavily from film to film.
The viewers of this genre must understand who the characters in the show are in order to completely appreciate it but you can also just watch and figure out the main characters. A message in this medium is usually a very important and help the viewers learn something and leave them feeling like they got something out of the film. In my opinion, this genre enables the best way of story telling due to being able to see everything in action. This medium heavily values visuals and an interesting story.
