An Exploration of Comics Through Soleil’s “Dwarves”

The intended audience for these comics is probably anyone who can get their hands on them. The audience probably belongs to the discourse community of nerds. People who want to find their escapism through seeing other worlds. The audience is likely to know what each cliche is, as comic fans are almost used to seeing the same troupe over and over again, but that isn’t a bad thing. If the audience is a fan of these fantasy comics, then they are very likely to want to spend as much time with these stories as possible, seeing as that is the experience that I have had with these stories. The purpose of these stories is, yet again, to entertain.

Through a great establishment of their lores as objective truths, you allow yourself to be reeled into the worlds of these series. Again, through a great establishment of their histories and the backgrounds of the characters that are established in their worlds. The evidence is purely made up for the story, and it works well because of the confidence in the information presented.

In this case, I believe that the information and the genre are one and the same. I don’t believe that anyone comes into these genres without a vested interest in learning the lore presented. For this specific series, it is episodic so each entry is a full, complete story. The structure of this works so well for the information. It allows us all to be invested into the world.
