One piece of our research project focuses on how the students watched the films, whether that be with subtitles or dubbed in the other language. As the data came in, we noticed that the majority of the students preferred to watch the films dubbed in the other language while subbed in English. This majority was about an average of 65% of the students, but interestingly enough, even the first-year students preferred to watch the films in this manner. Our predictions had this particular group of students placed as using English dubbed and subtitled in the language they were learning. The percentage of students that liked to watch the films dubbed in their learning language was about 29% average. But these students also responded that it was easier to watch the films with subtitles instead of dubbed. The percentage of students was 58% of the survey’s response. These two questions seem to have many different aspects to them that we would have loved to expand upon. Another question that helped to answer our research question, was if the students themselves believed that watching films helped them understand the language better. Out of all the surveys, 79% thought that the films helped them. Within these students we saw more passion to learn the new language. Altogether, these three questions helped to point us in the right direction to answering our research topic. By the end, we found that the students believe that the films help them, and they increase both their fluency in reading and listening comprehension.
