Meet the NCPS Executive Committee!

The NCPS Executive Committee is an all-volunteer group of professional staff from diverse educational institutions and professional backgrounds in the Pacific Northwest Region. Deci EvansDeci Evans

University of Washington Medicine

Deci Evans is a Program Operations Specialist in the Department of Surgery division of Trauma/Burns at Harborview Medical Center. Deci has worked for the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Centers for 19 Years and  served on the UW Professional Staff Organization (PSO) Board for 7 Years. Deci enjoys working with people to find creative ways to develop successful partnerships. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and working as a fundraising specialist in NE Seattle.

Karen Garrett Karen Garrett

Washington State University
Karen is a graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Texas. She has been employed at Washington State University for 9 years, first at the Information Technology Help Desk, then as a manager in Information Technology Desktop Support Services. In addition to this full time position, Karen has served on the Administrative Professional (exempt personnel) Advisory Council for 7 years, serving this last year as chair. In her spare time Karen likes to cook, travel and camp. She loves animals (especially elephants!) and spends lots of her time with her canine best friend “Poopes” an 11-year old Bichon Frise.

April Markiewicz April Markiewicz

Western Washington University
April is a Toxicologist II and the Associate Director of the Institute of Environmental Toxicology at Western Washington University (Western).  She is also an adjunct faculty in the Department of Environmental Sciences in Huxley College of the Environment at Western.  She received her B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University and M.S. in Aquatic Toxicology/Aquatic Ecology from Western.  April has worked at Western for more than 27 years and has been actively involved in Western’s Professional Staff Organization Executive Committee for 16 of those years, and is its current past president.  In her spare time, April loves to golf, read mysteries, and corrupt her clowder of cats with toys, treats, and plenty of catnip.
