As students near the end of spring quarter, you may be looking for places to show your wonderful artwork! These opportunities were found mostly through Aidan Avery’s open call list (which you could learn more about here)! All of these following opportunities have options for students to submit their work entirely for free.
Paula Riff Award, Center for Photographic Art – DEADLINE June 1
Submissions are FREE! This award asks for 5-10 images, an artist bio and artist statement. They are looking for photography that has been altered physically or created via alternative practice. One artist will be selected to win $1000 and will have their works shown online and in the Lenscratch.
Student Prize, Lenscratch – DEADLINE June 2
Submissions are FREE! This prize aims to support students both financially and socially, and allows students the opportunity to network within the professional photography world! Lenscratch asks for students to submit 10 images, an artist bio, artist statement and a copy of their spring course schedule to confirm their enrollment status. They are also open to international applicants. There are a ton of prizes available, with the first place student receiving $1750 in cash, many gift cards, social networking opportunities and exhibition and publication opportunities as well. Second place receives $750, third place gets $500, and the four runner ups receive $250. This is a wonderful opportunity and if you apply for anything from this list THIS IS THE ONE!
Chase the Light, Photographic Center Northwest – DEADLINE June 8
Registration is a $20 donation although they also have a pay what you can system. This is a 48 hour art challenge where photographers around the world will have 48 hours to capture their images to be reviewed by industry professionals. The challenge days are June 8th and June 9th. All participants will have one photograph selected for a pop-up exhibition and sale June 15th. This is a fundraiser for the Photographic Center Northwest, and is a wonderful opportunity for artists looking to build community and their CV!
Call for Entrée “Altered Memories”, The Curated Fridge – DEADLINE June 15
Submissions are FREE! This open call for the upcoming exhibition “Altered Memories” asks applicants to submit 5 photos that in some way connect to how photography interacts with our concept of memory. Applicants must submit both digital copies of their photos as well as send physical copies in the mail. Works cannot be bigger than 4×6″ or 5×5″.
Street Photography Awards, LensCulture – DEADLINE June 19
Submissions are FREE for one image, then priced $35+ for 5 images. LensCulture has issued an open call to street photographers around the world to submit their best work. Many entrees will be shown in an online gallery and on social media, and after a jury decides a selection of winners, they will have a group show at Photo London. Submit your image(s), project description and a brief biography. Monetary awards range from $500 to $3500.
