Week 3 Reading Response (392)

I thought that the information on the preparation for the cyanotype, such as what type of paper will or will not work, and the advice on processing times and techniques was very helpful. The images were very inspiring, and I especially enjoyed the one entitled Harvard Diptych, by Lucy Soullter. It was also nice to know that there are post-processing techniques that will allow one to “save” an image that is either over or under exposed.   The information on toning the cyanotype in order to create a different color palette seemed like it would be helpful, if I had a minor in chemistry.   For example, I loved the violet tones on the image by Emily Barton, but I am not sure what led acetate is.  Others however, seem achievable, such as the yellow/blue split tones that Grace Hung created by using sodium carbonate.
