Jeffrey Sgroi is an engineer and artist whose 3Tone Halftonethree-dimensional pieces are a mixture of photography and abstract art. He takes a photograph and digitizes it into a halftone photograph, basically turning tones from a photo into dots. Based on the photo he’s using, a computer-controlled router programmed by him, drills thousands of various sized holes into a block of painted Corian. The result is a graphic and textural representation of a photograph.
