Emotion in Photography

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about photographic journalism lately and how photographers can capture a moment that is so honest. I found this image and I think its interesting, when I looked up images of people crying, most of them were babies. Why don’t we have any photos of adults crying?

  1. Well first of all, showing emotion for men is considered ‘sissy’ and has that stereotype that men are tough, therefore should not cry. So that’s pretty obvious why we dont see many photos of men crying…as for females, although we do cry more frequently then guys, its more controlled. Plus adults prefer to hide their face or be alone when they cry. i think having someone take a photo of them crying would cause them to stop or hide their face. children on the other hand have outbursts and cry no matter what (until they’re satisfied). so most likely its probably just because its easier to capture kids crying versus adults. adult-sad pictures are probably a woman with one glistening tear rolling down her cheek. thats what i would assume to see. lol. but yeah, good point. makes me wonder as well!
