Ever since the movie The Matrix came out the possible idea of a virtual reality has cascaded across the minds of Americans, having us ask ourselves, could this really become a reality, or will this forever be just a thing of science fiction? In 1999 the matrix was brought to theaters, igniting the imagination of tens of millions world wide. It has been 20 years and the rate in which technological advancement has happened within these years indicates that the possibility of widespread use of VR has become almost an inevitability. The emergence of widespread technology through the form of the world wide web, cell phones, computers and cameras as well as other technologies has driven virtual reality to gradually become more and more like what we imagined it would actually be like. For the past few hundred years progressive changes within society on a global scale have continued to increase at an exponential rate. Collectively we must all be adaptable in order to live efficiently in this chaotic and malleable world. VR is very likely one of the next big changes society will be facing and the more ready we are for it’s widespread arrival the more efficiently we will be able to utilize it. In this article we will be covering an assortment of positive impacts VR could have and even a few negatives, no good thing comes without a few trade offs.

In this website we hope to provide an engaging and in depth overview of VR and the public’s perception of it. We researched how people’s backgrounds impacted their perception of the likely for VR to be a widespread tool for common use.
