For my extension project A, I decided to turn my literacy collage into a podcast recording. Speech is a very powerful method of communicating and I thought it would be one of the best ways to convey my literacy narrative. Podcasts have been around for a long time, but in the last years have surged in popularity. It is a great way to combine speech and technology as a way to deliver a message. Since this is a personal narrative, a podcast seemed like the best choice for this project. Since I wrote this paper based on my life, there is no better way to hear it than in my own words out loud. This method also allowed me to challenge myself technologically. I don’t have a lot of experience with computers and technology so recording an audio file, downloading it, and uploading it created some challenges for me but it was a great opportunity. It caused me to push myself and learn something new that could later be useful in other projects. This type of medium allows for a unique type of communication that allows for the audience to experience my narrative in a more personal way. My voice can allow the audience to hear my voice and the emphasis or fluctuation I put on certain words and phrases. I think the power of speech and voice is one of the most persuasive and effective forms of communication. Nothing can compare to hearing the author say the words in the way that they were meant to be said. I was glad to widen my podcast literacy by giving this a try.
