This piece, created in 2014 by artists Rebecca Cummins and Paul DeMarinis, aims to remind the observer of their place in relation to the universe. The sculpture is constantly pointing at the sun and moon with two respective dials in the corner of the moon wall. By weaving together the art of science and the poetical value of deep space, “Lunar Drift” gives a new perspective on how creativity and science can coexist, much like the Sun and Moon. It also allows the viewer to meditate and reflect on their place in the universe and how they continue to grow over time, like how the sun and moon continue to shift and change in the sky.
