Looking Through Nature

“Open Wide” says the night sky
Impetuous fingers craving for life
I am lost
Distant
Every mark visible to the naked eye
Has been burned and maimed
Into my charred skin
And leaves a bitter aura
Around me
“What am I without you?”
I scream to the stars
And whisper to the ground
I am weak
ill.
At least that’s what they tell me.
At least that’s what I know.
All I know.
The wind howls and the tress hiss
And the light rain brushes against the wings
Of whistlers that defecate on my brittle branches
Without their voices, I have none.
In exploitation I am someone.
But still I am planted
In earth everlasting
Disrupting the toils of humanity
Continually exposed
Obliterating reluctance
And ready to bloom
Elongated tips stripped from
Deprivation
I will reign
And ascend towards
Resilience, gratitude
Pride and glory
That will radiate
Incessantly
For decades to come
So as I grasp my throne
And watch every regret made
Fog your stringent eyes
And stain your tainted lips
I ask you
What will you do next?
