The untitled sculpture was created by Ulrich Ruckreim in 1989 in the midst of political turmoil. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, a significant event for German artist, Ruckreim. Although he does not explicitly explain what his work represents, his work often inspired by significant cultural and geological events. The way that each side of the sculpture is different in texture and markings can easily symbolize the way people from different cultures can come together to create a diverse society. We can visibly see the way that despite differences in the stone, it is unified, just as different groups of people can be.
