The Intergroup Cognition Lab at Western Washington University will be looking for Research Assistants for Fall 2023. If you are interested in a position, please apply by Thursday, October 5 at 5:00 pm (instructions below).

Current Lab Projects:

Nonverbal Behavior – In collaboration with researchers at the University of British Columbia and the University of Georgia, we are investigating how nonverbal cues in television shows can reduce racial bias. This study includes children ages 9-11.

Perpetuation of Inequality  – We are currently investigating what factors influence children’s perpetuation of inequality. Under what circumstances do children think inequality is acceptable? This study includes children ages 7-10.

Research Assistant duties:

  • Recruiting participants in the local community
  • Scheduling families to come to the lab
  • Learning study protocol and conducting studies with children
  • Assisting with study design and programming
  • Reading and summarizing relevant literature
  • Assisting with data cleaning and analysis
  • Developing coding manuals and coding qualitative data
