Blue Sky: Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts

Fazilat Soukhakian is showing in her exhibition Queer in Utah a collection of colored photophras that explores queer expressions of love. Informed by her upbringing in Iran, where she would operate as a photo journalist at the start of her career, Soukhakian explores the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Utah(her current residence) by portraying them in loving affectionate poses in public places. Soukhakian is currently the Associate Professor of Photography at Utah State University. If you’re in Oregon over spring break, you should check out her work! You could read more about her exhibition on the Blue Sky website, or check out Soukhakian’s website to see more of her work.
