Win $500 in Quicksilver's 5th Annual Photo Contest
Quicksilver Photo Lab Presents their 5th Annual Photo Contest, with first place winning $500! The categories are: People, Travel, Altered Images, Photojournalism, and Games in Vancouver. Each category winner receives $50 and all winners receive up to a 20 inch print of the top winning photograph. There will also be 25 Honorable Mentions which will receive a local business gift, and all winning and mentioned photos will be shown at an event and a gallery in Bellingham!

Join the John Grade Procession!
Join the Procession!

Gather in front of the Lightcatcher building (250 Flora Street) and participate in the procession of John Grade’s large-scale sculptures and witness as they dissolve into Bellingham Bay.
The procession will be heading behind Old City Hall and then down Center Avenue ending next to the Georgia Pacific building by Roeder Avenue. You can either join in the procession or choose a place to watch along the route (the steps in Maritime Heritage Park will be a great viewing location).
Essence of Bellingham Call for Photos!
The City of Bellingham is currently accepting submissions for the 2010 Essence of Bellingham competition! Above is last year’s 3rd place winner, a photo taken by fellow Western student Paul Israel.

“Each year, the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum sponsor the “Essence of Bellingham” photography competition. Digital or scanned entries gathered over the previous year that capture the “essence” of Bellingham are showcased and added to a collection documenting Bellingham and the diverse nature of life in our city and county.
Entries may appear in Whatcom Museum and City of Bellingham publications and in various places such as print, TV, and the Internet.” [www.cob.org]

9th Annual ReArt Exhibition & Fashion Show
First Friday Artwalk is tomorrow, April 2nd! Among many openings, the reception for the 9th annual ReArt Bellingham exhibition will be hosted by Allied Arts (1418 Cornwall Ave.) from 6-10pm. To catch even more ReArt, check out the Seattle exhibition as well, hosted on Seattle’s First Thursday at Blowing Sands Gallery (5805 14th Ave NW in Ballard).

Edifice Complex
Check out Winter 2010’s Art 390 class’ commission for Macy’s in downtown Seattle: “Edifice Complex”! It was on display on the corner of 3rd & Stewart for the entire month of March and will soon be moving down to the metro to become part of Macy’s permanent collection.
