Every year, Western students generate revenue through special fundraising events, in order to participate in the Regional and National Conferences. This seciton is devoted to announcements related to SPE fundraisers, promotional materials, and meetings surrounding SPE. The Society for Photographic Education is a nonprofit membership organization that provides and fosters an understanding of photography as a means of diverse creative expression, cultural insight, and experimental practice. Through its interdisciplinary programs, services, and publications, the society seeks to promote a broader understanding of the medium in all its forms through teaching and learning, scholarship, and criticism.

With the generous support of Western’s Art Department, the Dean’s office, Associated Students, and kindness of countless others, 11 photography students were afforded the opportunity to go to New York City and Balitmore for the National SPE Conference in March 2014. Garth Amundson and Pierre Gour were delighted to help out with the trip and look forward to SPE in New Orleans next year.

Photography Exhibition & Sale II

WWU Society for Photographic Education Club Presents

BELLINGHAM- Photography students from the Western Washington University (WWU) Society of Photographic Education Club are curating a photography exhibition and sale of student works entitled Photography Exhibition & Sale II that will be displayed from February 24th through February 28th in the B-Gallery located in the Fine Arts Building at WWU. Opening reception will be on Tuesday, February 25th from 5pm to 8pm, and closing reception will be on Thursday, February 27th from 5pm to 8pm.

The gallery will be filled with art from various students, with content ranging from street photography to studio portraiture. All images are printed on high quality archival paper and prices will range from $25, $15, and $10, for 16×20’’, 11×14’’, and 8×10’’ prints, respectively. The gallery is open from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and prints will be for sale during receptions only.

Featured artists include Camille Crocetti, Ashley Garrels, April Hayden, Kelly Hill, Katie Hudak, Frankie Krupa-Vahdani, Kevin Lowdon, Quinton Maldonado, Patricia Swanson, and Tim Seguin.

The sale is an opportunity for members of the community to support students and aspiring artists, as well as help the WWU SPE Club attend the national SPE conference in Baltimore, MD this March.
