I was struck by the absence of imagery in this piece. I’m interested in how to simplify work and how much imagery you can get away with leaving out. Some of her other drawings have interesting cropped compositions.

My older brother sent an email my way with the work of Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre attached to it. They have recently completed a 5 year project on photographing a series titled Detroit In Ruins. Absolutely stunning work! There’s a some overlapping photos from the articles and their website, but otherwise there are two different sets of images…make sure to check them both out!

Detroit in Ruins - William Livingstone House, Brush Park, a French Renaissance-style house designed by Albert Kahn in 1893 and demolished since this photograph was taken.
