A Day in the Life: One

My host university, Chonnam National University, is in the city of Gwangju, located in the south of the peninsula. These photos were taken atop the Jeonil Building 245 during a class field trip, a building with extreme importance to the city (see “5.18 Uprising” post). If you like museums and/or history, then this is a place that I would highly recommend.

Situated downtown next to the 5.18 Square, the Jeonil Building 245 provides a brilliant view of the city and is one of several museums in Gwangju. While I visited this building for a class, I very much enjoyed it. There are only a few classes (that I know of) that take you into the city so if you have the opportunity to take the May 18th Uprising and Social Movements class at CNU, especially if you are wary of exploring on your own. At buildings like this and at museums, there will be English signage and, if asked ahead of time, an English-speaking tour guide.
