In the world today, there seems to be an overwhelming need for people, including university students, to find meaning and reason in their everyday lives. With modern technology and the mass amount of information consumed by individuals, it is becoming hard to decipher what is and is not important and which problems require our attention as students. Which problems matter? How do we deal with these problems? These are the questions we try to ask as students. To answer these questions we look to Mark Manson and Miyamoto Musashi. We chose Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck as he presents a counter-intuitive approach to deciding what we should, or should not give a f*ck about. This is very contradictory to Musashi’s writings as Manson is very casual in contrast to Musashi’s formal attitudes on conduct. We hope that this casual approach combined with Musashi’s strong beliefs will help students decide which problems to give a f*ck about and how to deal with these problems.
