Dr. Delker

The THRIVE Lab is directed by Brianna C. Delker (she/her), PhD, Associate Professor of Psychology and Faculty Associate of the Center for Cross-Cultural Research. Dr. Delker earned her BA in English Literature (cum laude), with a specialization in East Asian Languages and Cultures, at Columbia University in New York, and her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. She joined the WWU Psychology faculty in the fall of 2017. At Western, Dr. Delker teaches courses in clinical and trauma psychology, developmental psychopathology, scholarly writing for undergrad and grad students, statistics, and research methods. In her research and teaching, she seeks to highlight the role of social and cultural contexts (family, community, society) in interpersonal violence perpetration and in promoting trauma healing, recovery, and advocacy. In the Psychology field beyond Western, Dr. Delker serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation, and as a Research Associate at the Center for Institutional Courage. She is a member of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (APA Division 2) and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. With Julian D. Ford, she co-edited Polyvictimization: Adverse Impacts in Childhood and Across the Lifespan (Routledge, 2019).
