“Neo-Kitsch: national small works showcase”, Arts West, Seattle, WA
Kitsch and camp are the new black if you haven’t heard, but more than just being the new “in” thing, ArtsWest Theater’s holiday show is A Tuna Christmas.  Nothing goes better with a fun night with the “24 citizens of the third smallest town in Texas,” than some little bits of sentimentality and the ‘thingamabobs’ from popular culture with a twist of cleverness and surprise.
Charles Krafft’s King of Kitsch is a fine example of neo-kitsch already accepted into the exhibition.  This small porcelain skull with a crown of Holland-style figurines in Delftware say collectible sweetness with a flourish of fun and wit.  Unlike your father’s kitsch, commentary on the masses is appreciated.
With this call we request small works 10” x 10” or smaller from 2D and 3D media, including nontraditional mediums.
Fee: $10 per work
Deadline: November 8, 2010
