I found this artist today as I was perusing the interwebs, and I’ve posted a couple of my favorites from her website. Danielle Tunstall is a photographer/graphic artist who does a lot of horror and shocking portraits. If you visit her website and DON’T want to see anything that might give you nightmares, she has a section in her portfolio called ‘Unalarming Portraits‘. Otherwise, fair warning that some of her work can disturbing, and isn’t for everyone.
Grant Gunderson is a local Bellingham photographer who shoots a bunch of skiing and other outdoor sports. Of course he’s more on the action photography side of things, but I find much of his work quite inspiring, especially the image below. Here’s his website

Even though this is a music video it gave me a lot of ideas of doing for portraits. Itmakes me want to experiment with different types of portraiture. Plus I love this song! Hope everyone enjoys.
Though I can’t begin to pronounce her last name, Anna Szczekutowicz is an amazing photographer I first found on flickr a few years back. Her command of lighting and subtle moments make her portraits so unique and interesting to look at. I really can’t say enough good things about her work, check her out on flickr!
Garth suggested that I check out Frederick Sommer for his amazing textures in photography and they are indeed amazing! Although some of his subject matter (like road kill) is pretty gross, some of it is presented in such a beautiful way that I can look past the guts and see the beauty in the patterns. I also really enjoy his use of texture in portraiture as a background and as a double exposure.

Just wanted to holla at one of my favorite photographers. Olivia Bolles, she’s from Portland and a few years younger than me. I’ve been following her on flickr for a few years and her work is always so interesting and refreshing. A lot of shots about just being a teenager and stuff, which I’m definitely a sucker for. This is the photographer that Garth recommended for me to look up. I really enjoyed this photo. I like to shoot windows, and this is a good inspiration.

Marc Yankus has always been one of my favorite artists and recently he has begun to use his photography for book cover design. Doing design work myself, this sythesis of fine art photography and design is awesome.
